I feel for you! I was only a month out from surgery and tried desperately to slow the rapid weight loss. I lost 25 lbs during the pg (lost more then gained a few pounds in the 3rd trimester). I couldn't keep anything down, so that was my biggest obstacle. I hate milk and shakes, but I forced myself to drink Light Muscle Milk shakes once a day. They are sold at our local Costco.
Find a food that works and then eat it as often as you can. Egg salad, banana bread and french fries were staples for me. Oyster crackers and pretzels were constant snacks as well as watermelon and apples. Eating 2 meals a day isn't enough. Snack throughout the day. Eat 2 crackers and cream cheese every hour, or 5 grapes and 1/2 piece of wheat toast, a piece of celery and peanut butter. Doesn't have to be a lot.
Losing some weight is all right. Losing too quickly is what you're trying to avoid. If your OB tests your urine, they can detect if your body is in ketosis. This might be a good way to monitor and make sure you're getting enough calories and fluids.
I was told to shoot for 1800 to 2000 cals/day. It never happened. But I was able to stop my body from recurrent ketosis finally and actually became hungry in the 3rd trimester!
Just try to increase a bit every day. Let me know if I can do anything to help.
FWIW, I had a very healthy 7.4 lb baby boy @ 39 weeks. He is now nearly 16 lbs. My sickness and weight loss does not appear to have affected his health in the least.

I know so far I have been avoiding ketosis and its only because since I know I eat so little, most of what I eat is carbs then protein (bad I know). I too dislike milk, but if the flavor of it can be masked I can deal ...but never will drink a glass of straight milk. And I have been drinking a lot of juice lately as it is the only way to ensure that I am drinking even close to enough fluids a day (I just make sure to dialute it with water).
As simple of an idea, I never thought to just eat a bite or two of something every hour. I don't know why not, I guess I just didn't think it would make a difference. Maybe thats all I need to kickstart my appetite...constantly feeding it (God I hope this is the case). But I have defintely been sticking to what I like. I often make myself tired of one food because I will eat it constantly if it works. Right now its Ore-Ida french fries, ellios pizza, waffles with syrup, and spinach and articoke dip. But I am going to try what you suggested. Little bites or snacks every hour or two.
These are the moments I wished I still lived with my mommy because she always seems to know the right foods to make when it comes to a picky tummy.

I would try to eat more fruits, veggies, yogurt, jello and things like that if you can tolorate it. Also make sure you push alot of fluids. The baby is going to be taking every little thing you intake, and over the next few months you will be able to tell the difference. If you don't get enough in then you are going to start feeling really drained. If anything fill up on fluids.
